NTPC Limited signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Octopus Energy Group on 19 March 2026 in New Delhi to explore collaboration across the power and energy sector. The agreement outlines a framework to identify and pursue opportunities in areas including electricity distribution, renewable energy, and digital energy platforms.
The MoU establishes a non-binding framework for cooperation covering electricity distribution and retail, renewable energy and storage, electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, digital energy platforms, innovation, research and development, and capacity building.
The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026, held from 19 March to 22 March 2026. It was executed by Jatinder Singh Chandok, Head of International Business Development at NTPC, and Chris Fitzgerald, Group Director, International Affairs at Octopus Energy.
The companies stated that the collaboration will explore opportunities across India, the United Kingdom, and other mutually agreed geographies, with a focus on enhancing efficiency, affordability, reliability, and clean energy adoption.
Octopus Energy Group, founded in 2015 in the United Kingdom by Greg Jackson, operates a cloud-based energy platform, Kraken, which manages functions such as billing, customer service, and grid balancing, and is licensed to utilities across multiple countries. The company serves approximately 7.7 million households in the United Kingdom and operates in 27 countries, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Japan.
NTPC Limited is an integrated power utility engaged in electricity generation and sale in India.
