Wavesight Limited, a wireless transmission systems developer headquartered in the United Kingdom, has entered into a licensed manufacturing partnership with Josh Tech Services Pvt Ltd to produce its Scorpion series of carrier-grade point-to-point (PtP) and point-to-multipoint (PtMP) radios in India. The production will take place at Josh Tech’s facility in Bengaluru and is intended to localise the manufacturing of wireless infrastructure used in sectors including public safety, energy, mining, airports, and smart city projects.

Josh Tech Services Pvt Ltd is an Indian strategic partner for OEMs, specialising in localised electronics manufacturing, component-level repair, and reverse logistics. Under the agreement, Josh Tech will manufacture the Scorpion PtP and PtMP platforms under licence, initially focusing on models capable of delivering up to 1 Gbps over distances of up to 5 km. The scope of the partnership may extend to additional wireless transmission products over time. The companies stated that local production is expected to improve product availability, reduce lead times, and support long-term serviceability while maintaining existing quality and performance standards.

“Given the demand for cutting-edge technology manufactured in India and our success to date, transferring production to a local facility capable of supporting our projects was a natural decision,” said David Saldanha, Managing Director, Wavesight Limited.

“Infrastructure today demands more than service — it demands stewardship across the entire lifecycle,” said Emmanuel Franklin, Director, Josh Tech Services Pvt Ltd.

Wavesight’s Scorpion radios deliver throughput of up to 2 Gbps with sub-3 ms latency and are designed for carrier-grade backhaul and access networks operating in industrial environments. Since commencing operations in India, Wavesight, through its locally registered entity and partners, has deployed more than 10,000 radios across over 100 projects nationwide.

Deployments include mission-critical networks for state police forces in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, as well as installations at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) facilities for wireless closed-circuit television (CCTV) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) connectivity. Additional projects involve Coal India subsidiaries including Eastern Coalfields, refinery networks of Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum, and Airports Authority of India facilities such as Amritsar Airport. These installations provide wireless connectivity in locations where fibre deployment is impractical or cost prohibitive.

The partnership aligns with the Government of India’s Make in India initiative by bringing production of high-capacity wireless radios closer to the domestic market. The facility was inaugurated by Chandru Iyer, Deputy High Commissioner for Karnataka and Kerala and HM Deputy Trade Commissioner – South Asia (Investment).

“Wavesight’s foray into manufacturing in India reflects the growing collaboration between the two countries. It demonstrates a strong commitment to ‘Make in India’ and to contribute towards enhancing safety, security, and resilience. While the UK–India CETA is expected to enter into force soon, this UK India collaboration further demonstrates the positive intent to drive innovation, economic growth, and progress toward our shared Vision 2035 roadmap,” said Chandru Iyer, Deputy High Commissioner for Karnataka and Kerala and HM Deputy Trade Commissioner – South Asia (Investment).
