Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) and Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces have announced a partnership to establish a defense manufacturing facility in Casablanca. The facility will handle the final assembly and integration of TASL’s Wheeled Armoured Platform 8×8, with plans to serve Morocco and potentially other African nations. This facility marks a significant development for Morocco’s defense industry and is expected to be operational within the next 12 months.

The plant, covering 20,000 square meters, will initially focus on producing armored vehicles for the Royal Moroccan Army, with potential for future exports across Africa. The TASL platform 8×8, developed in collaboration with Tata Motors and India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), will incorporate components from India, alongside local content and employment in Morocco.

TASL’s new venture in Morocco represents its first defense manufacturing facility outside of India. The facility will be fully owned by TASL and aims to support Morocco’s defense capabilities while contributing to local economic growth through employment, skill development, and supply chain integration.

TASL intends to collaborate with local suppliers and engage in workforce training to meet international production standards. The facility will be aligned with Morocco’s broader industrial goals and provide a launch point for exporting defense products to other African countries.

Key components of the TASL platform 8×8 include a high-power integrated power pack and modular systems designed to adapt to various missions and operating environments.
