Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Space Applications Centre (SAC) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to collaborate on the manufacturing of space-grade Travelling Wave Tube Amplifiers (TWTAs) in India. This agreement is part of an effort to indigenize production and reduce dependence on foreign suppliers.
According to BEL, a specialized facility for fabricating and manufacturing TWTAs has been established. These amplifiers, developed by SAC and to be manufactured by BEL, will be utilized in satellite communication and navigation systems, microwave remote sensing radar payloads, and scientific space missions.
TWTAs are critical components in communication and remote sensing equipment, including inter-spacecraft communication systems.
