Jabil, a U.S.-based electronics component manufacturer and supplier to Apple, announced plans to expand its operations in India with an investment of $250–275 million (₹2,102–₹2,312 crore). This expansion will see the establishment of at least two new facilities over the next three to four years, according to a press release issued by the company.

The company currently operates two manufacturing facilities in Pune within the Ranjangaon Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation Zone, where it produces plastic casings for Apple’s AirPods. With rising demand in the consumer electronics, home appliances, and e-mobility sectors, Jabil aims to grow its manufacturing footprint to meet this demand.

As part of this expansion, Jabil signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu government to invest ₹2,000 crore in an electronics manufacturing plant located in Tiruchirappalli. The planned facility in Tamil Nadu will join additional units, including assembly and manufacturing, in a move expected to strengthen Jabil’s production capabilities in India.

In recent years, Apple has been encouraging its supplier network to establish production facilities outside China, leading to a notable increase in investment in India from companies like TDK Corporation, Foxconn, Sunwoda Electronic Company, and Shenzhen YUTO Packaging Technology. States such as Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, and Maharashtra have become key locations for these manufacturing sites.
