Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) has announced plans to develop a greenfield refinery and petrochemical complex on the East Coast of Andhra Pradesh, with an estimated investment of ₹6,100 crore. The company has stated that its board has approved the commencement of pre-project activities, including feasibility studies, land identification and acquisition, environmental assessments, and engineering designs.
BPCL is also diversifying its portfolio through renewable energy projects. It was recently declared the lowest bidder for a 150 MW solar power project under NTPC’s tender for 1,200 MW of ISTS-connected solar capacity. The solar initiative, expected to cost ₹756.45 crore, aims to generate approximately 400 million units of clean energy annually and is projected to earn ₹100 crore in annual revenue.
These initiatives reflect BPCL’s dual focus on expanding its conventional energy capabilities while contributing to renewable energy development. The company highlighted its commitment to supporting energy transition efforts through strategic investments in both traditional and sustainable energy sectors.
