Vadodara Municipal Corporation unveiled development projects worth ₹616.54 crore during a ceremony attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Among the key initiatives is the construction of a new overbridge to replace the Alkapuri railway underpass, addressing a long-standing transportation challenge in the city.

The event, organized as part of Vadodara’s “Vikas Utsav,” included the inauguration and foundation stone laying of projects focusing on water supply, street lighting, housing construction, urban drainage systems, roads, bridges, and solid waste management. The Chief Minister also flagged off new vehicles to enhance sanitation and civic services.

Vadodara’s urban development efforts were further bolstered by ₹68 crore allocated for outgrowth areas and ₹756 crore dedicated to municipal projects. The Gujarat government’s budget for urban development this year stands at ₹21,916 crore, a significant increase compared to previous years.

During the ceremony, beneficiaries of the Awas Yojana received keys to their new homes. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of leveraging urbanization as a development opportunity and encouraged setting ambitious targets for future growth.

The projects are part of ongoing efforts to improve Vadodara’s infrastructure and livability.
