Mayr Power Transmission has established a production facility in Halol, near Vadodara, in the Indian state of Gujarat. The plant, which began operations toward the end of 2024, will manufacture safety brakes and clutches for the local market. This marks the company’s fourth production site, following its headquarters in Mauerstetten, Germany, and facilities in Poland and China.

Mayr had previously served the Indian market through a local authorized dealer since the 1990s. The new facility is expected to enable direct local production and supply, enhancing the company’s ability to meet regional demand.

Ferdinand Mayr, CEO of Mayr Group, stated that the decision to establish a manufacturing presence in India aligns with the company’s objective of creating local value and ensuring competitive supply to the market. The region has seen increasing applications of high-tech solutions, including robotics and medical technology.

Christian Tanner, Director of Operations for Mayr India, noted that the company maintains uniform testing standards across all its production sites to ensure consistent product quality. The Indian plant is expected to help optimize costs while maintaining these standards.

Mayr Power Transmission specializes in the production of safety brakes, torque limiters, and shaft couplings used in electrically driven machines and systems. The company employs approximately 1,350 people worldwide and operates subsidiaries in the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Singapore, Japan, and Switzerland, along with representatives in around 40 additional countries.
