Kirloskar Brothers Ltd (KBL) has supplied pump solutions for three recently commissioned Indian Navy vessels: INS Nilgiri, INS Surat, and INS Vaghsheer. The company provided high-performance canned motor pumps (CMP) for the ships’ HVAC systems, supporting both sea and freshwater applications.
On January 15, 2025, the Indian Navy commissioned the INS Nilgiri, a stealth frigate; INS Surat, a destroyer; and INS Vaghsheer, a submarine. These additions to the fleet are part of ongoing naval modernization efforts.
KBL manufactures pumps, valves, and hydro-turbines for various sectors, including defense, infrastructure, oil & gas, and power generation. The company’s involvement in naval projects aligns with broader initiatives to enhance domestic manufacturing in the defense sector.
