Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pentagon Rugged Systems India Pvt Ltd, an Indian defense technology company, to jointly develop and integrate indigenous Anti-Drone and Long-Range Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) Communication Systems for Indian Navy platforms. Integration trials are expected to begin in the next quarter, with deployment on frontline naval vessels to follow after successful validation.
The Anti-Drone systems will be designed to detect, track, and neutralize hostile drones in real time, with operational coverage up to 30 km. The systems will use jamming technologies operating across the 400 MHz to 6 GHz frequency spectrum, aiming to neutralize threats without disrupting friendly assets. These solutions are being tailored for maritime operational environments.
The proposed Long-Range NLOS Communication Systems are intended to support secure ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore communications in conditions where line-of-sight links are not possible. These systems will aim to enable encrypted and resilient communications across both blue-water and littoral naval zones.
Hindustan Shipyard Limited, based in Visakhapatnam, is engaged in shipbuilding, ship repairs, and submarine refits for the Indian Navy and other maritime clients.
