Air Liquide is investing in a new air separation unit (ASU) and cylinder filling station (CFS) in Bhagapura, Gujarat. Scheduled to begin operations in 2027, the plant is expected to double the company’s production capacity in the state and serve sectors including automotive, electronics, batteries, and healthcare.
The ASU will have a production capacity of 200 tonnes per day, while the CFS is designed to fill up to 1,000 cylinders per day. This will be Air Liquide’s second facility in Gujarat, in addition to its existing plant in Jhagadia.
The company plans to begin sourcing renewable energy for the site starting in 2029, aligning with its broader goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and supporting Gujarat’s Wind-Solar Hybrid Power Policy.
According to Air Liquide, the Bhagapura facility is intended to enhance supply chain reliability by providing industrial and medical gases—including oxygen, nitrogen, and argon—for both bulk and packaged delivery.
“We are more than doubling Air Liquide’s production capacity in Gujarat with our investments in this new state-of-the-art efficient air separation plant and this cylinder filling center. By increasing our footprint, we will contribute to the growth of industries and healthcare sectors in this region. Being close to our customers, in order to provide a high level of reliability and quality in our services, will always be our priority,” said Benoit Renard, Managing Director of Air Liquide India.
Air Liquide has been operating in India since 1996 and currently runs six production facilities across North and West India, with a combined production capacity of approximately 1,500 tonnes per day.
