BASF India Limited has commenced construction of a new plant in Dahej, Gujarat, to expand the production capacity of its Cellasto® microcellular polyurethane (MCU) components. The facility is expected to be operational in the second half of 2026 and will include a new mold line in its first phase.

The expansion aims to meet the growing demand for Cellasto® components in India’s automotive sector. The company stated that the facility will incorporate advanced automation technologies to maintain safety and quality standards.

Bjoern Kophstahl, Vice President, Global Business Management for Cellasto®, stated that the plant has the flexibility to scale production further based on market demand.

Cellasto® components are used in noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) reduction solutions for the automotive industry. BASF first established its Cellasto® production facility in Dahej in 2014. The company develops and manufactures a range of MCU elastomer-based components, including jounce bumpers, top mounts, and coil spring isolators.
