Mohali-based CDIL Semiconductors has signed a memorandum of understanding with Germany’s Infineon Technologies to collaborate on semiconductor manufacturing and supply for the Indian market. Under the agreement, Infineon will provide bare die wafers, which CDIL will package into discrete and module semiconductor products for Indian customers.
According to CDIL, the partnership will focus on developing power semiconductor products for applications in e-mobility, renewable energy, and energy-efficient appliances. Richard Kuncic, senior vice-president and general manager, power systems at Infineon Technologies, stated that the collaboration aims to address specific market requirements in these sectors.
CDIL has been manufacturing semiconductor chips since 1964 and operates four semiconductor manufacturing units. Its product portfolio includes diffused wafers, transistors, diodes, rectifiers, thyristors, TVSs, and regulators.
