Tata Electronics Private Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Merck to collaborate on semiconductor materials, fabrication infrastructure, and specialty chemical and gas distribution in India. The agreement includes support for Tata Electronics’ semiconductor fabrication facility in Dholera, Gujarat, which is being built with an investment of INR 910 billion (approximately USD 11 billion).
As part of the collaboration, Merck will provide products and services including high-purity electronic materials, advanced gas and chemical delivery systems, turnkey fab infrastructure, and its Material Intelligence digital solutions. The partnership will also cover safety and manufacturing practices, local warehousing, raw material supply chain development, and talent cultivation.

Tata Electronics is building its first semiconductor fabrication facility in Dholera to produce chips for automotive, mobile devices, artificial intelligence and other sectors. According to the company, construction is progressing and partnerships across design, materials, equipment and processes are critical to execution.
Tata Electronics Private Limited, a Tata Group company established in 2020, operates in electronics manufacturing services, semiconductor assembly and testing, foundry and design services. It employs more than 70,000 people across Gujarat, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
Merck operates across life science, healthcare and electronics, with more than 62,000 employees in 65 countries. In 2024, the company reported sales of EUR 21.2 billion.
