Jabil Inc. has announced plans to establish a new factory in Gujarat, marking its second site in India. The expansion follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in November 2024 between the company and the state government to explore long-term opportunities in the region.
Jabil formalized the agreement during the Gujarat SemiConnect IESA Vision Summit in Gandhinagar. As part of the initiative, the company and the state government will assess the feasibility of developing a post-wafer fabrication silicon photonics facility with co-packaged optics capabilities.
Jabil has been involved in the photonics sector for over a decade, working on photonics device design, optical networking products, and large-scale manufacturing services for telecommunications, data communications, and artificial intelligence applications.
The company operates over 100 sites across more than 25 countries, offering engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing solutions to industries including semiconductors, automotive, healthcare, and automation.
