The Ministry of Defence has signed contracts worth INR 25 billion with Armoured Vehicle Nigam Limited for the procurement of the Nag Missile System (NAMIS) Tracked version and with Force Motors Ltd and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd for approximately 5,000 light vehicles for the armed forces. The agreements were signed in New Delhi on March 27, 2025.

The contract for the NAMIS (Tr) weapon system is valued at INR 18.01 billion. The system, developed by the Defence Research & Development Laboratory of DRDO, includes a fire-and-forget anti-tank missile and an integrated sighting system.

The procurement of light vehicles is intended to improve mobility in various terrains. These vehicles have a payload capacity of 800 kg and feature enhanced engine power.

According to the Ministry of Defence, both procurements are expected to support domestic defence manufacturing and contribute to employment generation through the involvement of the MSME sector in component manufacturing.
