Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Swan Defence and Heavy Industries to jointly construct commercial vessels and offshore structures. The agreement was signed on 7 April 2025 and outlines plans to share infrastructure and collaborate on project execution in the commercial shipbuilding sector.
According to the company, the partnership is non-exclusive and is aimed at identifying and developing commercial shipbuilding opportunities, particularly for global customers. The collaboration will also include joint development of standard platform designs tailored to market demands.
GRSE and Swan Defence plan to coordinate efforts in vessel trials, commissioning, and future repair work. The companies stated that the partnership would involve creating a shared vendor ecosystem and promoting training programs to support a skilled workforce.
The collaboration is intended to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce project timelines, and support ongoing efforts to increase shipbuilding capacity in the commercial segment.
