Tata Elxsi has signed a multi-year engineering deal valued at EUR 50 million with a European automotive original equipment manufacturer (OEM). As part of the engagement, the company will establish a dedicated Global Engineering Centre focused on software-defined vehicle (SDV) platforms, electrification, body and chassis development, and cloud-native technologies.
The engineering centre will support the OEM’s software roadmap by developing a unified technology stack comprising a proprietary operating system, electronic architecture, and automotive cloud. These systems are intended to enable connectivity, advanced in-vehicle functions, and upgradable software across multiple product lines.
In addition to its continued presence in the automotive, media, and healthcare segments, Tata Elxsi is expanding into the aerospace and defence sector. The company stated it is addressing opportunities in space technologies, unmanned aerial vehicles, software-defined systems, and localisation of engineering solutions in this sector.
Tata Elxsi’s offerings in SDV and connected mobility include the AVENIR development framework, the AUTONOMAI advanced driver assistance suite, the TETHER connected vehicle platform, and the MOBIUS+ digital product passport. These tools are designed to support modular software engineering, cloud-edge integration, and platform scalability.
“We are happy to be a long-term strategic partner in translating that vision into reality,” said Manoj Raghavan, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Elxsi, referring to the automotive customer’s SDV goals.
The company has also announced other strategic deals in recent quarters across media and communications, including a USD 100 million product engineering consolidation contract and a USD 10 million deal for streaming platform development. According to the company, these engagements, along with the entry into aerospace and defence, reflect efforts to diversify across industries and grow its engineering services business.
