Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) Pvt. Ltd. (TTDI) will invest INR 5.62 billion to expand its manufacturing operations at the Rudraram plant in Telangana. The investment will support the construction of a new facility for surge arresters and expand existing production lines for power and distribution transformers as well as gas insulated switchgear (GIS).
TTDI, a wholly owned subsidiary of Toshiba Corporation, Japan, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Telangana government during a meeting in Japan. The initiative is aimed at enhancing the company’s transmission and distribution manufacturing capabilities in India.
As part of the expansion, TTDI plans to build a new manufacturing unit dedicated to surge arresters at its Rudraram site. The company also intends to increase production capacity for existing product lines, including transformers and GIS equipment.
The MoU was signed by Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary of Telangana, and Hiroshi Kaneta, Chairman and Managing Director of TTDI. The event was attended by Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Furuta, Director – Energy Business, Toshiba Corporation.
Speaking at the signing, Hiroshi Kaneta said, “This investment will enhance our ability to meet the growing demand for high-quality transmission and distribution equipment in India and globally.”
