Altmin Private Limited has announced plans to establish a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode manufacturing facility in Divitipally, Telangana. The project involves an initial investment of approximately USD 90 million and is expected to have a production capacity of 8 GWh, with a planned expansion to 100,000 metric tons per annum by 2030.
The 20-acre plant will produce cathode materials for energy storage and electric vehicle (EV) applications in India. The company has indicated that the facility will create 800 direct jobs. It also plans to establish supply chain partnerships with South American mines to secure raw material sourcing.
The new factory is located near battery manufacturer Amara Raja’s plant, signaling potential collaboration within the region’s energy sector. According to Altmin, the facility will include research labs and testing facilities for further development of electrode and battery material technologies.
Altmin’s Founder and Managing Director, Maurya Sunkavalli, stated that the company aims to contribute to the development of India’s battery supply chain. Telangana’s Minister for Industries, IT, and E&C, D. Sridhar Babu, also acknowledged the company’s expansion efforts and its role in the domestic battery materials sector.
The foundation-stone laying ceremony was attended by government officials and industry representatives, including Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Railways, and Jayadev Galla, Co-founder of Amara Raja Group.
