John Cockerill has announced several initiatives focused on steel manufacturing and decarbonization, including technology collaborations and investment plans in India. The company highlighted its Jet Vapor Deposition (JVD®) technology and its involvement in green hydrogen infrastructure as part of discussions at the India Steel 2025 conference organized by the Ministry of Steel and FICCI.

JVD® is positioned by the company as an alternative to traditional Electro Galvanizing and Hot Dip Galvanizing methods. It is designed for the coating of metal strips and aims to provide operational efficiencies in terms of production speed, quality, and operating expenses.

John Cockerill also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) to advance technologies in iron and steelmaking. The agreement focuses on deploying steel decarbonization solutions and promoting the use of green steel technologies.

In addition, John Cockerill Hydrogen is collaborating with AM Green Group to develop an electrolyzer manufacturing facility in Kakinada. According to the company, this plant is expected to contribute to the hydrogen supply chain for sustainable steel production processes in India.

Francois-David Martino and Vivek Bhide from John Cockerill attended the conference and participated in discussions related to steel applications in the automotive and electric vehicle sectors, clean energy technologies, and industrial collaborations. “The sessions at India Steel Expo 2025 have sparked action that will witness deeper collaborations and partnerships,” the company stated.

John Cockerill is a global industrial engineering group that develops large-scale technological solutions in the fields of energy, defence, environment, and industrial production.
