ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AMNS) has achieved the first coil production from its third Continuous Galvanizing Line (CGL#3) at the Hazira facility in Gujarat. The line was supplied by industrial engineering firm John Cockerill and has now transitioned from commissioning to operational readiness.

The CGL#3 line is designed to process Advanced High-Strength Steel (AHSS) with tensile strengths of up to 1180 MPa. It is aimed at serving the automotive sector’s structural and surface finish requirements, particularly for exposed components.

According to the company, the first coil was produced without any reported Lost Time Injuries (LTI), marking a significant safety milestone for the project.

John Cockerill, based in Belgium, provides industrial technologies and services across sectors such as energy, environment, defence, and steel manufacturing.

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India is a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, two of the world’s largest steel producers.
