ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has announced plans to commission two new production lines for advanced automotive steel at its facility in Gujarat by 2025. The expansion aims to bolster the domestic supply of high-quality steel for the automotive industry, which is currently growing at an annual rate of 6–7%.
The company stated that the new production lines would adhere to stringent quality standards established by its parent firms, ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel. This move is expected to reduce reliance on imported steel and increase the availability of locally produced automotive-grade materials.
The initiative reflects AM/NS India’s strategy to cater to rising demand in the automotive sector while supporting broader efforts to enhance the country’s industrial self-reliance.
