Discussions between Indian and Croatian business leaders have highlighted mutual efforts to expand economic cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, and labour. Croatia has attracted interest from Indian companies in sectors such as logistics and manufacturing, and officials expressed openness to deeper collaboration.

Croatia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Gordan Grlić Radman, noted that Indian investment has been directed toward Croatian ports and said that Croatia offers India a potential entry point into European markets. He added that a return visit by the Croatian Prime Minister to India is expected next year. India and Croatia signed a defence cooperation agreement in 2019, and officials indicated scope for further collaboration.

Tin Viduka, president of the Indian-Croatian Business Club and a representative of ALTPRO, a railway safety technology firm, described the company’s efforts to meet the technical requirements of the Indian market. ALTPRO has established a 3,500-square-metre production facility in Velika Gorica employing approximately 120 people, with India identified as a major driver of that investment.

Viduka highlighted the scale and complexity of operating in India, particularly in sectors such as railways where environmental conditions and technical standards differ from Europe. He noted that Croatian businesses need to adapt to local business culture and emphasized the importance of having a strong local partner.

Economic analyst Damir Novotny commented that India’s economic liberalisation has made it more attractive to foreign investors and positioned it as a competitor to China in global markets. He stated that mutual investments—Indian capital in Croatian projects and Croatian ventures in India—should be promoted. Novotny cited the example of a capsule production facility in Ludbreg as a demonstration of growing bilateral interest.

ALTPRO continues to expand its footprint in India through its partnerships and local adaptation strategies, reflecting a broader trend of deepening ties between Croatian and Indian businesses.
