Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI), a producer of special steels, superalloys, and titanium alloys, has inaugurated its second titanium manufacturing plant in Hyderabad. The facility is designed for the production of aero grade titanium alloys and is described by the company as its largest plant of this kind.

The company’s first facility on the site is highly integrated and include various melting and refining furnaces – such as electric arc furnace with ladle refining, vacuum degassing/vacuum oxygen decarburisation, vacuum induction melting, vacuum arc remelting, electro slag remelting – as well as forging presses, rolling mills, bar and wire drawing mills, and comprehensive quality control facilities.

The inauguration of the new facility was conducted by Sanjeev Kumar, Secretary, Defence Production, Ministry of Defence. Also present were S.V.S. Narayana Murthy, Chairman and Managing Director of MIDHANI, and A. Madhavrao, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Dynamics Limited (Retired Commodore). Several other officials from MIDHANI also attended the event.

“This is a proud moment for all MIDHANIans,” said Sanjeev Kumar. He also commended the company’s efforts in enhancing domestic defence production capabilities.
