CARACAL, a small arms manufacturer based in the UAE, and ICOMM Tele Ltd, a group company of Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL), have inaugurated a small arms manufacturing facility in Hyderabad. This facility, which will be located at ICOMM’s Integrated Engineering Facility, will produce a range of advanced firearms, marking a significant milestone in the UAE-India defence collaboration.
The facility will produce several firearms, including the CAR 816 close-quarters battle rifle, the CAR 817 assault rifle, the CSR 338 and CSR 308 sniper rifles, the CSR 50 anti-materiel sniper rifle, the CMP9 submachine gun, and the CARACAL EF and F GEN II combat pistols. These weapons will cater to the needs of the Indian Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces, Special Forces, and State Police Forces. The facility will also fulfill global export requirements for CARACAL.
Under a Technology Transfer agreement, this facility will localize production and will support India’s self-reliance efforts in the defence sector. The weapons manufactured here are expected to meet the specifications and quality standards required for Indian defence forces, and have already undergone successful trials with Special Forces units.
Sumanth Paturu, Managing Director of ICOMM Tele Ltd, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting India’s defence forces and manufacturing for both Indian and international markets. Hamad Alameri, CEO of CARACAL, highlighted the facility as a key part of CARACAL’s strategy to expand its presence in India and strengthen the country’s role in the global defence industry.
