Toronto-based Firan Technology Group Corporation (FTG) has announced plans to open a new aerospace manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, India. The plant is expected to commence production by the end of 2025 and will focus on cockpit products, including backlit panels and higher-level assemblies.
The facility will be located within a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Hyderabad Airport, allowing for tariff-free trade between India and international markets. According to FTG, the site was selected after evaluating multiple locations, with India’s growing aerospace and defence sector and investment policies cited as contributing factors.
The company stated that the new facility will serve both Indian and global customers. The current agreement includes an option for FTG to expand the site’s capacity by over 200% in the future.
FTG has over 35 years of experience in the aerospace and defence electronics industry, specializing in high-reliability printed circuit boards (PCBs) and avionic sub-systems. The company has positioned this expansion as part of a broader strategy to capitalize on the growing aerospace and defence market in India and strengthen its global presence.
The Hyderabad facility will incorporate Lean Manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve operational excellence. FTG aims to leverage these practices to optimize production processes and ensure high-quality output.
FTG has demonstrated strong financial growth, reporting bookings of $45.9 million in the third quarter of 2024. The company recently completed the acquisition of FLYHT Aerospace Solutions Ltd. in December 2024, expanding its capabilities and product offerings. Additionally, FTG has signed a 10-year lease for an expanded FTG Aerospace facility, consolidating operations into a single location.
FTG operates in multiple locations worldwide, including Canada, the United States, and China, and supplies aerospace and defence electronics products. The Hyderabad facility will mark its fourth country for aerospace manufacturing.
The company plans to provide further details on the project during the Aero India 2025 Exhibition, where it will be exhibiting at Hall J.
