Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has signed a Licensing Agreement for Transfer of Technology (LAToT) with the Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL), Hyderabad. The agreement covers the manufacture of fused silica radar domes using the Cold Isostatic Pressing and Sintering Route.

Radar domes, also known as radomes, protect radar systems from environmental factors while allowing uninterrupted signal transmission. Through this agreement, BHEL will develop capabilities to produce fused silica radomes domestically.

According to the company, this initiative is expected to reduce reliance on imports and contribute to strengthening defence manufacturing. The collaboration also continues BHEL’s partnership with DRDO laboratories in technology development for strategic applications.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited was established in 1964 and is headquartered in New Delhi. It is a public sector engineering and manufacturing enterprise operating in power generation, defence, aerospace, transportation, and renewable energy, with a network of plants, engineering units, and service centres across India.
