Solarium Green Energy Limited, a provider of turnkey solar solutions, plans to establish a solar module manufacturing facility with an annual production capacity of approximately 1000 MW in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The project involves an estimated capital expenditure of INR 700 million, in addition to the required working capital, and will be financed through a debt-to-equity ratio of 3:1.

The company’s move is part of its backward integration strategy to address supply chain risks, manage cost volatility, and improve project margins. The new facility will produce Crystalline Silicon Solar PV Modules, including advanced variants such as TOPCon cells, half-cut cells, and bifacial cells. The plant will use imported tabber-stringers, laminators, and sun simulators. Solarium also plans to begin manufacturing mounting structures, which account for approximately 10 percent of project costs, at its existing Bavla, Gujarat facility.

The company expects the in-house manufacturing capabilities to secure timely availability of solar modules for its Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects, while any surplus capacity will be available for sale to other EPC players and the B2B market. The plant is scheduled to commence commercial operations in the fourth quarter of the current financial year.

“We are thrilled to re-enter the manufacturing space and are confident of the synergy this module manufacturing will bring to our supply chain. Our focus is to fully backward integrate our business with the key objective to secure our supply chain and improve profitability. At 85% plant utilization, the plant is capable of generating a revenue of INR 1,000+ crore if modules are sold in the market. While captive consumption of modules, by eliminating third-party markups, we expect the gross margin improvement by 5%–8% in the projects where these modules will be used.” said Ankit Garg, Chairman and Managing Director of Solarium.
