Hikoki Power Tools India plans to invest INR 7 billion to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Mahindra World City, Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu. The project is projected to create approximately 1,302 direct and indirect jobs.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 14 August 2025 in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, with the event marking a significant milestone in the state’s industrial development push.
According to company officials, this facility will shift from conventional assembly to technology-driven precision manufacturing, aiming to boost local high-value production and reduce India’s reliance on imports.
Hikoki has been present in India since 1996, with a wide sales network and over 100 service centres nationwide. The company highlighted Tamil Nadu’s robust infrastructure, skilled workforce, and progressive industrial policies as key reasons for choosing this location.
Hikoki, a subsidiary of Japan’s Koki Holdings (formerly Hitachi Power Tools), produces durable power tools for construction, woodworking and metalworking professionals and has a well-established presence in several global markets.
