Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) Private Limited (TTDI) has inaugurated a new Cold Rolled Grain-Oriented (CRGO) Core Processing Centre and a Surge Arrester production line at its Rudraram facility in Telangana. The launch took place on August 8, 2025, presided over by Telangana Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, who also laid the foundation stone for an expansion of its Extra-High-Voltage (EHV) Power Transformer manufacturing plant.
These advanced facilities are part of TTDI’s already announced INR 5.62 billion investment, formalized through an MoU signed on April 18, 2025. The CRGO Core Processing Centre will handle 12,000 metric tonnes of CRGO steel annually, while the Surge Arrester line is designed to manufacture 80,000 units per year. Once operational, the EHV Transformer expansion will increase production capacity from 30,000 MVA to 42,000 MVA per annum.
“Our planned investment will bolster Toshiba’s manufacturing footprint in India and contribute to local employment and skills development. We are poised to accelerate our manufacturing capabilities, improve operational efficiency, increase speed-to-market, and deliver high-quality, sustainable energy solutions for India and the world,” said Mr. Hiroshi Furuta, Chairman and Managing Director, TTDI.
Indobuilt Storage Systems Pvt Ltd designed, manufactured, supplied, installed, and commissioned a fully automated vertical motorized mobile racking system at this facility. The system is intended to enhance Toshiba’s storage efficiency and support its operational capabilities.
The investment is projected to generate over 250 direct jobs over three years from FY 2024, supporting local employment and skill development initiatives. TTDI continues to strengthen its role in India’s “Make in India” and “Export from India” goals, having exported India-manufactured transformers to more than 50 countries, with these new facilities expected to further boost both domestic and global supply.
