Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) has signed a Technical Agreement with the Directorate General of Armaments (DGA), France, to expand bilateral collaboration in defence research and development. The agreement was concluded in New Delhi on 20 November 2025 and is intended to strengthen joint work on advanced military technologies and future capability requirements.

Secretary Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO Dr Samir V Kamat and National Armaments Director, DGA France Lt Gen Gael Diaz de Tuesta inked the agreement at DRDO Bhawan, New Delhi.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Defence, the framework enables structured cooperation through joint research projects, training programmes, testing activities and exchanges of technical information. It also supports the organisation of workshops and seminars aimed at enhancing technical skills within defence R&D.

The agreement covers aeronautical platforms, unmanned systems, advanced materials, cyber security, artificial intelligence, space technologies, navigation, advanced propulsion, sensors, quantum technologies and underwater systems. It also provides for the transfer of equipment, know-how and related technologies between the two countries as part of collaborative work.

DRDO and DGA expect the initiative to support long-term capability development by leveraging combined expertise in emerging and high-technology domains. The Ministry of Defence stated that the cooperation is designed to address future defence challenges through shared research efforts.

DRDO is India’s principal agency for the development of military technologies, operating a network of laboratories engaged in systems, platforms and materials research for the armed forces.
