ZEISS India inaugurated its seventh Quality Excellence Centre (QEC) in Hyderabad to support the country’s aerospace and advanced manufacturing sectors. The 4,500-square-foot facility includes an additional 1,500 square feet reserved for future expansion and is equipped with the company’s latest precision measurement and quality assurance technologies.

The QEC houses coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), surface and form measurement systems, 3D scanners, X-ray equipment, and software-based inspection and analysis tools.

“The future of manufacturing lies in the integration of automation and Industry 4.0,” said Aveen Padmaprabha, Business Head – Industrial Quality Solutions, ZEISS India & Neighbouring Markets. “Hyderabad is a strategic hub for ZEISS, given its strong aerospace base and the growing medical device industry in the region. Through this new QEC, we aim to offer closer technical collaboration and showcase our most advanced solutions designed for Quality 4.0 and Manufacturing 4.0.”

The centre features ZEISS’s PRISMO CMM with rotary measurement for blades and Aerofoil software for aerospace applications, designed to improve accuracy and productivity. ZEISS said its systems are increasingly incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities through software such as ZEISS PiWEB to enhance efficiency and data-driven process control.

Praveen P. A., Director of Aerospace, Defence, and Logistics, Government of Telangana, said the establishment of the ZEISS centre aligns with the state’s focus on expanding its aerospace ecosystem. “With several global original equipment manufacturers investing in the Hyderabad aerospace cluster, the addition of ZEISS’s technology centre further supports the region’s growing manufacturing and innovation capabilities,” he said.

The QEC is also intended as an open platform for industry, academia, and startups, providing pay-per-use access to precision metrology equipment and promoting research collaborations. This initiative supports Telangana’s broader plan to develop into a global manufacturing and innovation hub. The new centre aims to strengthen its regional presence by providing technical support, demonstration, and collaborative research facilities for customers across aerospace, defence, and medical device manufacturing.

ZEISS India stated that its investment in the Hyderabad facility underscores its commitment to strengthening local manufacturing ecosystems. The company operates six other QECs across India that provide quality assurance, process optimisation, and training solutions for industrial customers.

Founded in 1846, ZEISS is headquartered in Oberkochen, Germany. It operates in the fields of optics, industrial metrology, semiconductor manufacturing technology, and medical devices, with a presence in over 50 countries worldwide.
