WEG has signed binding agreements to acquire Sanelec Excitation Systems, an Indian manufacturer of voltage regulators and excitation control systems, as part of its strategy to expand its global footprint in energy control technologies. The transaction, announced on 12 December 2025, is subject to customary closing conditions.
The acquisition is intended to strengthen the international operations of REIVAX, a company within the WEG Group focused on excitation and control solutions for power generation. The move follows a long-standing commercial relationship between Sanelec and REIVAX in the Indian market.
Sanelec Excitation Systems, founded in 1998 and headquartered in Bangalore, designs and manufactures automatic voltage regulators for generators, synchronous motors, and excitation systems used in power generation applications. The company has more than two decades of experience in engineering and manufacturing in this segment and has operated as the exclusive partner of REIVAX in India prior to the acquisition.
WEG said the integration of Sanelec is expected to enhance support for existing customers and expand REIVAX’s access to international markets for power generation control solutions. The transaction is positioned as a continuation of cooperation already in place between the two companies, with operations expected to be aligned following completion.
The company did not disclose financial details of the acquisition or provide a specific timeline for closing. WEG stated that the transaction will be completed once all standard regulatory and contractual conditions are met.
With this acquisition, WEG is seeking to consolidate its portfolio in excitation and voltage regulation technologies, while strengthening its operational presence in India. The move reflects the company’s broader efforts to expand manufacturing and engineering capabilities in key regional markets that support its global energy business.
WEG is a multinational manufacturer of electrical equipment and systems, with operations spanning electric motors, generators, transformers, drives, and automation solutions for industrial, infrastructure, and energy applications.
