Ramsarup Industries Limited, a step-down subsidiary of Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited, has commenced commercial operations at its newly commissioned modern blast furnace on 30 December 2025, strengthening upstream steelmaking capacity within the group. The development marks the start of commercial production at the new facility, which is expected to support higher steel output.
The modern blast furnace at the company’s integrated steel plant in Kharagpur, West Bengal, has an installed production capacity of 0.45 million tonnes per annum. The commissioning also includes a linear sinter plant, enabling integrated operations at the site and supporting efficient raw material preparation for blast furnace operations. Commercial production began on the same day as commissioning.
The blast furnace has been designed with a zero process water discharge system. This configuration is intended to improve process efficiency while supporting sustainability objectives by eliminating discharge of process water from the plant.
Ramsarup Industries operates as a step-down subsidiary within the Shyam Metalics group. Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited is an integrated metals company with operations spanning iron and steelmaking, ferro alloys, aluminium foil, ductile iron pipes, and power generation, supplying a range of downstream steel products to domestic and export markets.
