ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Private Limited on 16 February 2026 expanded its value-added steel portfolio with the launch of two branded coated products, AM/NS Vibrance and AM/NS Optima, targeting appliance and industrial manufacturing applications. The company said the additions are intended to meet rising demand from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for surface precision, aesthetics and manufacturing reliability, while reducing dependence on imports.

Annual coated steel demand in India, currently at 11.1 million tonnes, is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 8 to 10 percent in the coming years, while coated steel consumption in the appliance segment is growing at about 10 percent annually. Demand from industrial applications is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 8 to 12 percent through 2030. The company cited industry projections indicating that India’s consumer durables market is expected to become the world’s fourth largest by financial year 2027.

According to a press release issued by the company, the two products form part of its value-added portfolio, which also includes Optigal, Magnelis, Optigal Prime and Optigal Pinnacle. The company said the expanded range is designed to make premium, internationally benchmarked coated steel solutions available domestically.

“For Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) focused on precision manufacturing and consistent brand quality; material choice directly impacts productivity, cost, and long-term performance. Against this backdrop, the addition of AM/NS Vibrance and AM/NS Optima is a significant step in expanding our branded steel portfolio to support OEMs productivity and value creation,” said Ranjan Dhar, Director and Vice President – Sales and Marketing, ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India.

“These two coated steel offerings strengthen our position as a preferred solution provider with innovative, high-quality steel solutions in line with our brand promise – ‘Smarter Steels, Brighter Futures’. By making world-class value-added steels available domestically, we are contributing to the ‘Make in India’ vision, while enabling our customers to build differentiated products with confidence and gain competitive advantage domestically and globally,” added Ranjan Dhar.

AM/NS Vibrance is a colour-coated steel solution developed for appliance manufacturers. The company said it combines strength, precision and surface aesthetics, and is suited for applications including refrigerators, washing machines, microwave ovens and water dispensers. It uses advanced coating technology applied over precision-engineered steel substrates to support consistent colour, controlled gloss and durability through fabrication and end use.

AM/NS Optima is described as a True Zero-Spangle galvanised steel product offering higher surface uniformity and control than conventional galvanised steel. According to the company, the product is built on precision-engineered substrates with uniform thickness and tightly controlled surface quality, enabling predictable bending and consistent finishes across production runs. It is suited for applications such as air-conditioner outdoor units, panels and cleanroom installations.

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Private Limited is a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel. The company has a crude steel capacity of 9 million tonnes per annum and a pellet capacity of 20 million tonnes, and produces a range of flat and value-added steel products.
