Renault Nissan Technology & Business Centre India (Renault Nissan Tech), a provider of technology and business support to Renault and Nissan operations worldwide, has opened a new Platform Research lab at its Garage facility in Singaperumal Koil (SP Koil), Tamil Nadu. The lab is intended to enhance the company’s engineering capabilities and focus on a carmaker-oriented research approach to directly support vehicle development and production.

The lab was inaugurated by Jean-Charles Loty, Directeur Chassis & Intégration Powertrain, Renault Group; Debashis Neogi, Managing Director, Renault Nissan Tech; and Anantharaman Prakash, Vice President – RAE, PF, ASE.

Renault Nissan Tech’s new lab is positioned to support innovation and strengthen the company’s in-house expertise in vehicle-related technologies. The company stated that the lab will adopt a practical, application-oriented approach aimed at advancing its automotive engineering capabilities.

Renault Nissan Tech, headquartered in Chennai, provides technology and business support to Renault and Nissan operations worldwide. Its engineering teams work across product engineering, process engineering, research and advanced engineering, as well as information systems and global business services. The company has been involved in research on electric vehicles, battery technologies, advanced driver-assistance systems, autonomous driving, connected cars, safety systems, and in-car entertainment. It also engages in computational sciences and artificial intelligence.

Renault Nissan Tech has ongoing collaborations with the Indian research community and has worked with startups through initiatives like the “Renault Nissan Open Innovation Challenge” with T-Hub, focusing on technologies such as Generative AI, predictive analytics, ADAS, and vehicle design. The company has also been expanding its footprint, including the recent opening of a new center in Bengaluru to focus on software-defined vehicle technologies and artificial intelligence.
