Airbus has appointed Jürgen Westermeier as President and Managing Director for India and South Asia, effective 1 September 2025. He will succeed Rémi Maillard, who is moving into the role of Executive Vice‑President Engineering for Commercial Aircraft and Head of Technology at Airbus.

In this new capacity, Westermeier will oversee Airbus’s operations across Commercial Aircraft, Defence & Space, and Helicopters throughout India and the broader South Asia region. His responsibilities include commercial aircraft sales as well as expanding the company’s footprint in services, engineering, digital innovation, training, and furthering Make in India initiatives aligned with Airbus’s local production and supply-chain partnerships.

Westermeier joined Airbus in 2020 as Executive Vice‑President and Chief Procurement Officer, managing procurement across all divisions and leading the development of standardized procurement processes and partnerships with suppliers. Prior to joining Airbus, he started his career at BMW in 1998, holding strategic roles in information services, motorcycle purchasing, quality management, supplier network, and cost engineering. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Karlsruhe in Germany.

Airbus’s decision comes at a time when it is facing global production and delivery challenges, particularly in reaching its 2025 delivery target amid supply‑chain disruptions and delays in the A320neo programme.
