Thales has signed two contracts with IndiGo covering avionics maintenance and the extension of an electronic flight bag solution across the airline’s fleet. The agreements include an 11-year maintenance contract for more than 1,200 Airbus A320 family aircraft, both in service and on order, and a five-year contract for AvioBook, a digital flight operations platform.
Under the maintenance agreement, Thales will provide repair services for IndiGo’s avionics components through its ‘Avionics-By-The-Hour’ and ‘Repair-By-The-Hour’ programmes. The repairs will be carried out at Thales’s new maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in Gurugram, near Delhi airport. The site is designed to handle growing demand for avionics support in India.
The AvioBook contract extends the use of the digital flight bag solution to IndiGo’s entire fleet. According to Thales, the system is currently deployed on over 2,000 flights daily, supporting more than 650,000 flights annually. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has authorised the solution for paperless operations.
“We are pleased to partner with Thales, a leading aerospace company trusted worldwide for its expertise in avionics support, to augment IndiGo’s maintenance and repairs capabilities,” said Parichay Datta, Senior Vice-President, Engineering, IndiGo.
“This strategic partnership with IndiGo underscores our commitment to delivering airline world-class avionics support and services. Our new MRO facility in India increases Thales’s ability to provide a swift, reliable service,” said Thomas Got, Vice President, Aviation Global Services, Thales.
