Avantel Limited has announced a partnership with Safran Space to develop satellite ground segment capabilities in India. The collaboration aims to design, manufacture, and integrate multi-band antennas to support satellite communication needs in the region.

According to an update issued by Avantel, the company will leverage its facilities in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam for the project. Additionally, Avantel has received authorization from the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe) to provide Ground Segment as a Service (GSaaS), offering satellite connectivity and support solutions for both domestic and international markets.

This initiative aligns with recent authorizations granted by IN-SPACe to other Indian companies. For instance, Dhruva Space, a Hyderabad-based spacetech startup, received approval in July 2024 to offer Ground Station as a Service (GSaaS), enhancing its ground segment offerings to support real-time satellite communication and control. Similarly, Azista BST Aerospace Private Limited was authorized in July 2024 to establish and operate a ground station in UHF frequency bands, providing services for telemetry, tracking, command operations, and data reception from remote sensing satellites for both Indian and international customers.

These developments reflect a broader trend of private sector involvement in India’s space industry, aiming to enhance satellite communication infrastructure and expand GSaaS offerings.
