Safran Aircraft Engines and Titan Engineering and Automation Limited (TEAL) have signed a contract for the production of low-pressure turbine parts for the LEAP engine in India. The agreement was announced at the Aero India trade show in Bengaluru.
Production is scheduled to begin in 2026. The contract aligns with efforts to expand India’s aerospace manufacturing sector. Safran Aircraft Engines has been increasing its industrial presence in India, working with local partners to support the production of the LEAP engine and the M88 engine used in the Rafale fighter aircraft.
TEAL’s CEO, Sridhar Neelakantan, stated that the partnership will contribute to the company’s aerospace manufacturing capabilities. Dominique Dupuy, Vice President of Purchasing at Safran Aircraft Engines, described the collaboration as a step in developing local supply chains.
Safran Aircraft Engines currently operates five production facilities in India, located in Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Goa. A sixth facility focused on maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) for LEAP engines is set to open in Hyderabad in 2025.
India is the third-largest market for CFM engines, with 75% of the country’s commercial aircraft fleet equipped with CFM engines. Of the 500 aircraft operated by seven Indian airlines with CFM engines, more than 370 use the LEAP engine, with over 2,000 additional engines on order.
