Larsen & Toubro’s Renewables vertical has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ACWA Power for the renewables and grid scope of the Yanbu Green Ammonia Project in Saudi Arabia. The project is designed as a fully integrated facility powered by solar and wind-based electricity generation.
The scope of work includes development of solar PV, wind, and battery energy storage system plants, along with substations and transmission lines. Under the agreement, Larsen & Toubro will move towards an engineering, procurement, and construction contract once the final proposal is accepted.
“The rapid pace of development on the Yanbu Green Hydrogen Project is a clear demonstration of our commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s leadership role in the global energy transition. By developing and exporting green ammonia, we aim to support international markets in their decarbonisation efforts and pave the way for a cleaner, more sustainable world,” said Marco Arcelli, Chief Executive Officer at ACWA Power.
“Saudi Arabia is a key leader in supply of clean energy and industrial decarbonization. The kingdom has achieved remarkable progress in recent years due to the visionary programmes and initiatives.
