Swan Defence and Heavy Industries Limited (SDHI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Samsung Heavy Industries to collaborate on commercial shipbuilding and heavy engineering projects in domestic and international markets. The partnership will cover a variety of vessels, including tankers, gas carriers, container ships, and other specialised vessels.

Under the MoU, the companies will explore next-generation vessel designs, green technologies, and digital shipbuilding methodologies. The collaboration aims to optimise project execution through value engineering in production design and localisation of material sourcing to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.

SDHI operates India’s largest dry dock, measuring 662 metres by 65 metres, with a capacity of 400,000 DWT, and has an annual steel fabrication capacity of 144,000 tonnes. The shipyard also has a dedicated offshore yard of 750 metres by 265 metres for fabrication, erection, and load-out of large platforms, offshore structures, and heavy engineering modules of up to 10,000 tonnes.
