Cyient Semiconductors, a provider of custom ASIC and intelligent power solutions, has qualified for a contract linked to the modernisation of the Semi-Conductor Laboratory (SCL) in Mohali, Punjab. The company said in a press release that the mandate covers the supply and qualification of technology IPs for the INR 45 billion upgrade initiative, which forms part of the India Semiconductor Mission.
The contract includes design enablement and process technology updates for SCL’s enhanced eight-inch manufacturing line. The programme supports efforts to expand domestic semiconductor capability and reduce reliance on imports.
Cyient Semiconductors will supply and qualify three process technologies: RF-CMOS, BCD (HV LDMOS), and CMOS Image Sensor. These technologies are used across industrial, automotive, energy, sensing, and connectivity applications.
“Being technically qualified for this strategic project is a proud moment for Cyient Semiconductors and a strong validation of our engineering depth, IP portfolio, and turnkey execution capabilities,” said Krishna Bodanapu, Executive Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Cyient Limited. “Our collaboration with SCL will accelerate India’s semiconductor self-reliance by delivering highly relevant, high-value silicon solutions in digital, analog mixed signal and power domains, areas that continue to see massive global demand,” said Bodanapu.
The press release stated that the project marks a significant milestone in the company’s progression towards becoming a turnkey ASIC provider, covering the full chip lifecycle from specification to silicon production. “We are proud to have been qualified for this critical part of SCL’s modernization. RF-CMOS, BCD (HV LDMOS), and CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) are areas where our teams have a deep strength, and this program enables us to leverage that capability for a national mission. We see this as both a responsibility and an opportunity to help strengthen India’s semiconductor ecosystem,” said Suman Narayan, CEO, Cyient Semiconductors.
The mandate could enable SCL to support a broader range of applications, including smart energy and metering solutions, specific automotive electronics classes, industrial control systems, imaging and sensing technologies, and low-power wireless or IoT devices.
Cyient Semiconductors is a Hyderabad-headquartered provider of custom ASIC and ASSP solutions focused on analog mixed-signal, intelligent power, and advanced semiconductor platforms. It operates design centres in India, Belgium, and the United States.
