Aichelin Unitherm is establishing a new manufacturing and office facility at Ambi Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) in Talegaon, near Pune, as part of its plan to consolidate and expand its operations in India.
The new facility is being developed on a plot of approximately 11,500 square metres and is bringing all of Aichelin Unitherm’s manufacturing activities in India under one roof. The project includes a production hall of about 6,500 square metres and office space of around 1,300 square metres spread across two floors, with completion scheduled for mid-2026.
The Talegaon facility is being positioned to support long-term operational stability, improved infrastructure, and modern working conditions for employees. The company is also creating additional capacity to scale manufacturing operations in line with growing demand for industrial heat-treatment equipment in the domestic market.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the project was held on 14 August 2025, marking the formal start of construction at the site.
“India is one of the fastest-growing markets for industrial heat treatment worldwide. With our new site in Talegaon, we are creating the foundation to further expand our market share, serve our customers even better, and provide a modern working environment,” said Christian Grosspointner, Chief Executive Officer of the Aichelin Group.
Aichelin Unitherm is manufacturing atmospheric furnace systems in India for the group’s global portfolio and is supplying customers across the automotive sector, bearing manufacturing, and contract heat-treatment services. The new facility is supporting the company’s strategy to consolidate its position in the Indian market while continuing to increase revenue, while also enabling entry into additional heat-treatment segments, including aluminium heat treatment, and strengthening export-oriented activities.
The investment in India forms part of a broader expansion programme by the Aichelin Group in Asia. In parallel, the group is expanding its footprint in China by relocating to a larger office in Beijing’s Changping district, bringing together development, sales, service, and training functions at a single location.
The group said these investments are aligning with its long-term Strategy 2030, which is focused on sustainable growth, technological innovation, and closer engagement with customers in key regional markets.
Aichelin Unitherm Heat Treatment Systems India Private Limited is a 50:50 joint venture between Aichelin Group (Austria) and Unitherm Engineers Limited (India). The company has completed over 15 years of operations in the industrial heat-treatment segment, supported by a base of over 550 installations in India and overseas, including more than 400 sealed quench furnace (SQF) installations across multiple manufacturing segments. The company is reporting annual revenue in excess of INR 1.0 billion over the last two financial years and is targeting revenue of INR 2.0 billion by 2028. With the new manufacturing facility at Talegaon scheduled for commissioning by May 2026, the company is expanding capacity to support existing demand and planned growth in advanced heat-treatment applications.
In India, Aichelin Unitherm is focusing on customer segments where controlled thermal processing is critical to component performance. Its customer base spans the automotive, fasteners and screws, bearings, steel, and general engineering sectors, supplying equipment used for processes such as hardening, annealing, and thermochemical heat treatment. The company manufactures gas- and electrically-heated industrial furnaces, including sealed quench, pusher-type, mesh belt, rotary hearth, and roller hearth furnaces, which are deployed by original equipment manufacturers, tier-1 automotive suppliers, and metal component producers supplying both domestic and export markets.
