The Bidkin Industrial Area (BIA) in Maharashtra has officially been launched, marking a significant development in India’s industrial sector. The area, covering 7,855 acres, is part of the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme and is located within the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor. It is expected to boost economic activity in the Marathwada region due to its strategic location and infrastructure readiness.

Situated 20 km from Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, the industrial area offers strong multi-modal connectivity. It is close to NH-752E, 35 km from the Samruddhi Mahamarg (a highway linking Nagpur to Mumbai), 20 km from Aurangabad railway station, 30 km from Aurangabad Airport, and 65 km from Jalna Dry Port. The project aligns with the PM GatiShakti initiative, focusing on integrated infrastructure planning.

The total cost of developing the Bidkin Industrial Area is Rs. 6,414 crore, approved by the Government of India. The project is being developed in three phases, with Phase A covering 2,511 acres and prioritized with an investment of Rs. 2,427 crore. Maharashtra Industrial Township Limited (MITL), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) formed through a partnership between Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT), is overseeing the development.

Key infrastructure, including roads, water and power supply, and sewage treatment facilities, is now in place, and industrial and mixed-use plots are ready for allotment.

Several companies have already committed to the area. Ather Energy, Lubrizol, Toyota-Kirloskar, and JSW Green Mobility have collectively invested Rs. 56,200 crore and will occupy a total of 1,570 acres. These projects are expected to create over 30,000 jobs.

So far, 1,822 acres across 38 industrial and mixed-use plots have been allocated in just three years of construction. The development is anticipated to drive further industrialization in the region, attracting skilled workers and promoting socio-economic growth.
