CtrlS Datacentres, based in Hyderabad, has announced plans to establish a 50 MW solar power plant within the next 12 to 15 months as part of its transition to renewable energy. The company aims to power its data centers entirely through solar energy in the near future.
As part of its broader expansion strategy, CtrlS plans to raise $300 million during the current financial year. According to the company, the funding will be allocated as follows: approximately 10-15% for land acquisition, around 60% for data center infrastructure including buildings and mechanical systems, and 15-20% for renewable energy initiatives, such as the solar plant.
Data centers are known for their high energy consumption, and this move is intended to mitigate the environmental impact associated with coal-based energy sources. CtrlS’s shift toward renewable energy reflects a growing trend in the technology sector to adopt more sustainable energy solutions.
