NTPC Renewable Energy (NTPC REL), a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy, has been awarded a 1,000-MW solar power project through a bidding process conducted by Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL). The project was finalized during an e-reverse auction on January 3, 2025, under a tariff of Rs 2.56 per kWh.
The project is part of a broader initiative to develop 2,000 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity in India, connecting to the interstate transmission system (ISTS). NTPC REL’s bid succeeded in a tariff-based competitive bidding process. A formal letter of award is expected to follow, authorizing the company to proceed with the project.
Once operational, the project is anticipated to enhance renewable energy availability in Uttar Pradesh and contribute to broader national renewable energy capacity targets.
