Avaada Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Rajasthan government to establish a 1,200 MW pumped storage project (PSP) in the Sirohi district. Named the Kadambari PSP, the project involves an investment of approximately ₹5,800 crore and is expected to be completed over five to seven years.

The project is part of Avaada’s broader renewable energy initiatives in Rajasthan, which include a 1 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) green ammonia plant, a 1 GW wind power project, and a 10 GW solar power project.

The Kadambari PSP is designed to provide round-the-clock power supply by storing excess solar energy generated during the day and releasing it during periods of high demand, such as evenings. It also aims to contribute to grid stability by integrating more solar and wind energy.

Rajasthan currently has an installed renewable energy capacity of 28,617 MW, the second highest in India. Projects like the Kadambari PSP are expected to further support India’s goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy installed capacity.

Vineet Mittal, Chairman of Avaada Group, stated that the initiative aligns with the company’s objectives of advancing renewable energy infrastructure. The PSP, once operational, is anticipated to support the energy transition efforts in both the state and the country.
