Deepak Chem Tech Limited (DCTL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Deepak Nitrite Limited, has announced plans to invest Rs 5000 crore in a new polycarbonate resin manufacturing facility in Dahej, Gujarat. The plant is expected to have an annual production capacity of 165,000 metric tonnes and is slated for commissioning by the fourth quarter of FY 2028.

The investment includes capital expenditure for greenfield infrastructure and the acquisition of technology through a licensing agreement with Trinseo. As part of the agreement, DCTL will gain access to Trinseo’s CALIBRE™ resins and related trademarks.

Polycarbonate resins are used in a variety of industries, including automotive, electronics, construction, medical devices, and emerging sectors such as aerospace and drones.

Trinseo, a manufacturer of engineering polymers and compounds, reported net sales of approximately $3.7 billion in 2023. The company’s engineering compound portfolio is used by global brands across multiple industries.
